Ron Riker, CR (Certified Remodeler), UDCP (Universal Design Certified Professional)

I grew up in Spring City when it was a small, quiet town. After graduating from Spring-Ford Area High School, I earned an Associates degree in Business Management from Ursinus College while working full time. After some years’ related experience, I started R & M Construction Co. with a partner in 1998. I have been the sole owner since 2007, when I bought my partner’s interest in the business. People ask about the name – R & M. I kept the original company name because we have built a solid reputation in the community as R & M. People know the name, and can find us for remodeling work and referrals to friends and neighbors. I believe in sticking with what works. I’ve come to see remodeling houses as my true vocation. I’ve always liked older houses and watched others’ renovations with interest. Sometimes the renovations looked great; other times I’d figure out all the ways the remodel had gone wrong. Through experience gained remodeling my own home, working with another contractor, taking part in many seminars and work shops over the years, and working with good craftsmen, I’ve become a seasoned remodeling professional. R&M belongs to the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI). Our NARI chapter emphasizes education, and we have found this association to be very rewarding. My certification (CR) is through NARI. I hire and train employees who are loyal and dedicated to their craft. I also work with talented and skilled trade people to keep projects running smoothly. It all comes together in projects you can see pictured in the gallery. I moved to Oaks in 1982 and have seen many changes in the area. Oaks is our home base, and we have worked primarily in the Spring Ford, Collegeville, and Phoenixville areas. Our preferred area is west of King of Prussia, but we services the northern Philadelphia suburbs in southeastern Pennsylvania, including Oaks, Collegeville, Royersford, Phoenixville, Limerick, Audubon, Trooper, Eagleville, Spring City, King of Prussia, West Norriton, Chesterbrook, the Pottstown area, and more. Of course, we’re in business because of our customers. It’s great meeting and working with homeowners on projects that mean so much to them. People who care about their homes are our best customers. We make the extra effort needed to ensure our customers have a good experience with us, and can be proud of the end results of their project. I hope you’ll call or email us when you’re ready to plan a home remodeling project.
Who is in my house?
Of course you’re wondering who will be doing the work. We are a team of carpenters who are trained and educated for the work we do. The first lesson anyone learns is to keep it clean – or as we think of it – “Contain the work space, control the dust, and clean up”. Other than that, we get many compliments on being polite, knowing our craft, having a good work ethic, and integrity. Education is important, and we’ve attended seminars through NARI, the Katz Roadshow, and the Remodeler’s Show in Baltimore. We know it’s not always easy to have a carpenter banging around your house in the morning, and we always realize it’s your house, and do our best to keep you comfortable during our work.
Justen Steigerwalt, CLC – Justen was hired as a co-op student from the Western Center in Limerick in 2004. Justen earned a Certified Lead Carpenter certification through NARI. in 2009 and continues his education – a requirement for certification – through seminars and workshops. Justen is our lead carpenter and is always on the job with a happy disposition and a thorough knowledge of his craft.
Joe Meers – Joe began working with us in 2009 as a co-op student from the Cat Pickering School in Phoenixville. He has learned a lot in his years with us, and does high quality work cheerfully and professionally. Joe recently achieved the status of becoming a Certified Lead Carpenter. He has a great work ethic and is a valuable part of our team.
